World's best magic trick!

What is maya? Matching the things/people with other things/people when there is, actually speaking, no connection at all? Ultimately, maya means the illusion that it creates as dualism exists. In reality, the rishis say that there is no such dualism. They say that the life that we experience here now is just an illusion. When I say illusion, it does not mean that it doesn’t exist. It does. It is the manifestation of the supreme being. Where will all this energy be if it is not manifested? In that sense, there is no god apart from us, the matter on this planet. Everything is god. But is that the ultimate reality? I beg to differ. There is a mahavakya in the Vedas that proclaim that it is you. Tat-twam-asi, that being you is exactly the state that I am searching for. In my mind I have formulated a theory where I see this as a program. A world inside the reality or the world covered by the reality. Isha vaasyam idam sarvam . The world is covered up by god. This leaves us with a dual...

The Stream of Life

The journey that each and every one of us has to take is entwined. It can be summed up using a simple but powerful analogy. It is like a twig that floats on top of a stream. If you observe its movement, you can find that there are two ways in which it moves, nonetheless, forward. Sometimes, it follows a circular movement and other times it follows a straight movement. Our whole life is like this, constantly moving forward to that one destination. I am not referring to death here and I am certainly not talking about a single lifespan. The destination is that of ultimate freedom. This may or may not be attained in a single life. But each one of us is sure to reach that stage one day or the other. Ironically, the soul is already of that nature. Different layers have to be penetrated before you get to the soul. The time when you become ignorant is the time we take a circular motion. We become slaves to our own mind and hence forget the sole purpose of this life until a revelation hits...

Nature and The Self

The self is made up of three gunas, they are sattva, rajas and tamas. The permutation and combination of these three gunas give rise to the character of a person. The nature and the self are two different things altogether but they are deeply interconnected and interlinked. There is an unbreakable connection between the world and your self. For the spiritual aspirants this is the starting level where they begin to believe in a superpower because of this connection. Then he/she will have to go look for a guru who will explain these phenomena to him/her if they become a disciple. One peculiar thing about the Guru-shishya relationship is that the guru does not have a shishya but a shishya always has a guru. This has to be like this in order for the Vedanta knowledge to shine in the disciple. This connection is based on your character which is shaped by the three gunas. But this nature is different from the Purusha. The Purusha is that one which does not have a sensory existence. In th...

Divided Self.

What is personality? It is derived from the word 'persona' which literally means a mask. People with great personality are people who wear a thick mask. What are we hiding from? Why do we constantly divide ourselves to suite the needs of others' and destroy our own selves? Be bold and face life with dignity. Bravery is not jumping out of an aeroplane or jumping in-front of a moving train. A person who has controlled his/her brain is a brave person. The Sanskrit word dharyam  means a person who has controlled his/her brain and it is translated as bravery. Never humiliate anyone, at the same time, never be humiliated. Everyone loves themselves the most. The fact whether it is a boon or a bane is debatable. If this much is clear, how can anyone say that they love their child/mother/wife/husband the most. If anyone says that, be sure that its a lie. Life is all about struggles. Be it a struggle within you or a struggle amongst your peers. Even if you come out of that, we hav...

Give and Take

The main concern in this article is about giving and taking. I hope all of you are aware of this concept. It’s not just in the matter of respect, it is also in thought. Again I would like to emphasis the fact that minds are connected. So, we can see a turbulent flow of thoughts to and fro your mind and others’. Parents should be the first and foremost people to understand this. Even when a child is inside the mother’s womb, the child can sense the mother’s feelings. If someone shouts at the mother, when the baby hears that person’s voice after birth, he/she will definitely cry. It’s not about the intellect, but about the mind. The key is to concentrate on the present. Pondering upon the past and worrying about the future brings in complications to life. Parents should never advise their children because advises will create an opposite impression on anyone’s mind. Instead they should be a role model for the kids and they should show them how to live righteously. Children learn by ...

Fate or Destiny?

Is it an escapism to blame it on fate? Are we really destined for something when we are born? I personally don't believe in calling it as either of them because we get only what we deserve and nothing more, nothing less. Fate can be termed as being the repercussions of your Karma. By Karma , I don't mean just the physical work that we do. Even the very act of breathing itself is a Karma . Every Karma has to leave an impression on your mind. This is called the Sanskara (nearly translated to be inherent tendencies) . Whether we like it or not, it will leave us with a tendency( vasana) to repeat the Karma . This is the cycle of Karma . All of us are born with, us born for it. But some people can transgress this and be like a lotus leaf in water, untouched by it. A person looking from the worldly perspective cannot understand why such people do their Karma. In the Bhagavad Gita , Lord Krishna says to Arjuna that he no longer has any Karma left in all the three worlds, but still r...

Incompleteness

Our worlds derive out of incompleteness. I know that this is a bold statement to make but I can explain it rationally. The complete form is called Moksha or Advaitham or Nirvana. Beyond this stage there is nothing. Hence we have something before this stage. This something is not complete. The worlds are not complete. But the Buddhists say that there was nothing before creation(only in a worldly perspective). They claim to have the existence of a void( Shoonyam )present before creation. But this is a false claim. If void was there then how can one say that there was nothing present? This was the logical reason given by Adi Shankaracharya when a couple of Buddhists came to him for a debate. Nothing can be created from thin air. All of these existed before the inception of the planet named earth, in another name and form. All of this information is given in the Vedas which is a collection of knowledge about  the source of everything. If we attain Nirvana, the soul cannot simply ex...

Fruedian Principles on The Harry Potter Series.

In my generation, there wouldn't be a person who hasn't watched The Harry Potter movies and who did not like it. Right from The Philosopher's stone to The Deathly Hallows, everyone would have been a part of it. Rightly so, I too was a part of it and was sad after the last movie got released. J.K.Rowling is as imaginative a person as her characters are and the whole idea of a secret world named Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry is absolutely stunning. This is an attempt to reconstruct her three main characters and give them a psychoanalysis based on Frued's concept of Id, Ego, and Superego. Applying Frued's principle, we can see that Harry becomes the Ego. Hermione becomes the Superego and Ron, the Id. Id is derived by pleasure principle[sic.]. Ron is filled with emotions which he cannot control. Although he wants fame and recognition apart from the fact that he is one of Harry's best friends, he always is under the tag of  being 'Harry Potter...

Schizoaffective Disorder.

My honest opinions about this disorder is that "don't follow your mind, but take decisions with your brain". As I have already mentioned in my previous posts that the mind is mostly what you acquire from your surroundings, it can have good or bad elements in it. But the human body is designed in such a way that the brain has power over the mind. Binary thinking happens in the mind and the decision is made by the brain. So let the mind do its job, but at the same time know that the brain is in your hands! People having this disorder would want to fulfill the needs of their minds. Let them do that but at their on risks and not with others' lives at stake. First they must deconstruct themselves and then build on a new 'personality'. If this persona is not adequate enough, then the society or your near and dear ones will destroy it immediately for you. This is not a mental problem but it is actually a disorder where your mind and the brain are in frequent confl...

Perspectival Objectivity.

Everything on this planet springs out of a Perspectival Objectivity. An objective idea that comes from a subjective thought/imagination. The core of our being, the sole existence is one and the same for all. Hence, every idea basically comes out from the same source. The transcendentalists call it the 'over-soul'. If you find the soul and its nature, you can know everything. Knowledge is not open ended. The little nuances, the bits and pieces you pick up from this world(your world that is) are just information. Indeed one can claim to have known everything if he finds out the core of everything. Pure science is limited. Technology knows no ends. The reason is that one is knowledge and the other is information. By 'your world' I mean your idea of the world. We are all living in that 'imaginary homeland'(title by Salman Rushdie). We see the world the way we want to see it. Hence the phrase 'putting yourselves in someone's shoes '. It should be rephr...

Uncommon sense

Misunderstanding between people is like a snake which spits venom. Even countries get divided(India and Pakistan) due to misunderstanding between them. The Hindus and Muslims, as a religion, they are fundamentally the opposite. By religion I mean it as an opinion by great prophets and not a sect of people. The Hindu dharma is different and it is omnipresent. During the partition, Muslims in India and Hindus in Pakistan were deeply misunderstood. I object the English East India Company for having been the root cause of these in-fights. They turned the relationship between our Hindu and Muslim brothers into a hostile one. Ideologically we may differ but we are all part of that one Dharma. I would like to see the world as one nation and several countries. Because we have only one race: The Human Race. Prejudices work inside the minds of people. It is a wretched fact that it cannot be erased from the planet unless everyone attains the purity of the heart. I give credit to the man who ma...

Sound Influence

Hi folks, have you ever wondered why nature responds to your call? Haven't you walked in tears while its raining? Haven't you come across a cool gentle breeze when you are happy? If yes, these aren't strange coincidences. Its mother nature's way of comforting you. But what do we give her back? Pure garbage! I'm trying to elaborate on how sounds influence our body and mind. Nowadays we listen to all kinds of music raging from pop to hardcore death metal. You may not notice these small nuances in your system but these sounds will have a tremendous effect on your body and mind. The mind is so very powerful that the vibrations in the environment can be attuned by it. But you give the mind more than what it can tolerate. Hence it results in the opposite effect of your mind getting tuned by these music. The amount of adrenaline that is produced in the body, if it does not find any usage will adversely affect you. Imagine a situation where your mind turns into a rampagin...

Who is controling whom?

Ladies and Gentlemen, have you ever wondered why its always 'Gentle' men and not just men? The emergence of the feminist movements across the globe has indeed helped the women if you go by the saying "strength in numbers". Chivalry is not dead my folks. Don't take me as a male chauvinist too. I respect women a lot. In fact I try to see every woman as my mother. But I'm constantly being let down by the women around me. It all comes down to a big irony that women who complain about them being objectified actually are submitting themselves for objectification. Men are physically stronger than women. I hope that no one would object this fact. The exertion of this physical power on women has resulted in them being mentally stronger. The sad fact is that the men nowadays are becoming more feminine in nature due to this mental strength of women. This is true even with the roles played by a mother in a boy's life. Boys are raised to be mentally weak these days...

Ways of the Mind

Human mind is what we acquire or rather gather from our immediate surrounds. Sounds a little strange? It isn't. The accumulation of all the tendencies which are innate as well as acquired makes the mind unique in a way. But if you delve deep into your own psyche you will find an amazing and astounding connection between the mind and the surroundings. By the environment I mean not just the things around you. The humans and other organisms around you also contribute or influence your mind. It is like a never ending conversation between the world and your world. The Hindu saints are known to have renounced the world. Renunciation here is not the literal world but the metaphorical one which is the kind of imaginary notions that all of us have of the world, which becomes our world. Hence they renounce their mind and live as one with the universe. The point here is that the minds are connected. There are different aspects as well as stages of the mind. If you take a look at the Veda...
