Supernatural

I have just finished watching "The Conjuring" and they claim it to be a true story. I don't want to appear skeptical and say that its not. It would be a total disrespect for the efforts of the exorcists both abroad and inside the country. So that leaves us with a question. Does God and the devil exist? No would be the answer. I am not being self contradictory by making such a statement. 'Isha Vasyam Idam Sarvam' This is the very first verse of The Ishavasya Upanishad, which means cover up the whole universe in terms of GOD. So the whole world becomes god and even the devil will be god. If you completely understand this concept, then its unnecessary to read all the scriptures, but sadly this cannot be explained more that this as it is to be experienced and not told, which is impossible. Then what are these supernatural occurrences?  I wouldn't say that it is god, indeed it is the devil. But one thing that we must understand is the power of our minds. The mi

Superhumans.

Nietzsche's description on superman stuck me with wonder initially. It was with almost perfection that he described the status of such men of power. The feminists would have an argument on this view because it is super 'men' and not women. That is why I have given the title as 'superhumans' and not just supermen. Nietzsche's idea is that men can attain a status way above the so called ordinary men. This is a very high state indeed but according to his principle these men are born with such qualities. People who are born as 'ordinary' also can attain this status through incessant work. I shall give some of my own example for such human beings. We say Sachin Tendulkar is the god of cricket in India. Indeed he is a god of cricket. Some other examples would be Charlie Chaplin as god of comedy and Marlon Brando as god of acting. But if you take a closer look, there are others too who will fall into this category. Swami Vivekananda was a very talented perso

Imagination.

The world, we imagine it to be real. But we need strong imagination to thrive on. Imagination is the linchpin of success. People who have strong imagination tend to be successful in their lives. Take up an idea and make that idea your whole life[sic.]. The power of the mind is so intense that your idea, if imagined to be very strong will be manifested in some form or the other. People say don't be selfish, but selfishness to an extend is needed in the present world. If you become successful, share it, because you cannot claim to have reached heights only by yourself. Have gratitude and supply for the needy. If you do good, good will always have a way of coming back to you. It might not be from the same person but from a different person in a different form it will always find you. A pure mind devoid of all negativity will do only good things. That is real beauty. External appearance may define a person to an extent but inside matters the most. If you can be good and do good at t

Shadows

Have you ever been a mere shadow of someone? Have you ever tried to imitate someone in your life? Trying to adapt their values and mannerisms in life? Apart from you Gurus and parents whom have you chosen as your 'role-model'. Its not about whomsoever it is, but imitation is a dangerous thing. Imitation limits you very badly. It spoils you. It leaves a bad impression of you on others. We subconsciously imitate many people. This fact is really unknown to us. Record your actions once and try to observe yourself closely. Then you may find yourself in a way behaving like your mentor. Having role-models is fine but blindly following them is not. Be a leader not a follower. The good things that a person does can be adapted into your own life but not imitated. This is the point where I disagree with Gandhi. He said 'My Life is My Message' what did he actually mean by that? His life is his own to live. He cannot just simply impose it on others which he did as I reckon. Takin

Value Judgements.

Before judging others, try to judge yourself and find out how miserably you will fail. Judging someone with your own standards is not fair. If you don't know their standards then how can you judge? Only god can look down on people. A proper judge would be the one who has realized herself/himself. Now, the judges in the court will have the book of law as their standard. But to judge yourself, there is no such book. Your own experiences measure you, your actions define you. If you are mentally and intellectually strong enough to measure yourself in the light of your own experiences that would be wonderful! People often say "forget the past and move on". I'd like to say forget the emotions that are attached with the past and not the experiences. Learn your lessons and leave it at that. Experience is your greatest Guru. You will have to judge yourself till the point it becomes harmful for you and the others around you! That is how you can draw the line between reality

Down The Rabbit Hole.

Down the rabbit hole she goes, But she is no rabbit. In her world she moves Coming upon that is her habit. She talks to herself! "what a lovely day" Beyond the scope of herself Comes the man to be gay! Her world was full of flowers, But the man hated nature! He took away all her colours And gave her too much torture. Let this be said loud and clear: In the hole she is right and he is wrong. Where should they be placed to bear, The harmonious whispers too strong.

Give and Take

The main concern in this article is about giving and taking. I hope all of you are aware of this concept. It’s not just in the matter of respect, it is also in thought. Again I would like to emphasis the fact that minds are connected. So, we can see a turbulent flow of thoughts to and fro your mind and others’. Parents should be the first and foremost people to understand this. Even when a child is inside the mother’s womb, the child can sense the mother’s feelings. If someone shouts at the mother, when the baby hears that person’s voice after birth, he/she will definitely cry. It’s not about the intellect, but about the mind. The key is to concentrate on the present. Pondering upon the past and worrying about the future brings in complications to life. Parents should never advise their children because advises will create an opposite impression on anyone’s mind. Instead they should be a role model for the kids and they should show them how to live righteously. Children learn by

The Concept of Nationality.

India was the Guru of all nations. What we see today is a mere shadow of that great nation(Bharat). India was once a nation. But now it is just a country. Nationality is oneness in spirit and soul insofar as the nation is concerned. The concept of 'our nation', instead of 'my nation'. What we see today, especially on Independence Day and Republic Day is not nationalism. It is just patriotism. But these vary in a much greater degree than you think. When we say patriotism it the 'I' as an individual and its 'we, the nation' for nationality. There is no collective 'we' operating in India. What happened to us, the people or rather citizens? We have been simulating sleep for ages now. That's why in Swami Vivekananda's famous quote "Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached", 'Arise' comes first and then we have to 'Awake'. But now the dark times are hopefully over and the thick veil that was covering the na

Fate or Destiny?

Is it an escapism to blame it on fate? Are we really destined for something when we are born? I personally don't believe in calling it as either of them because we get only what we deserve and nothing more, nothing less. Fate can be termed as being the repercussions of your Karma. By Karma , I don't mean just the physical work that we do. Even the very act of breathing itself is a Karma . Every Karma has to leave an impression on your mind. This is called the Sanskara (nearly translated to be inherent tendencies) . Whether we like it or not, it will leave us with a tendency( vasana) to repeat the Karma . This is the cycle of Karma . All of us are born with, us born for it. But some people can transgress this and be like a lotus leaf in water, untouched by it. A person looking from the worldly perspective cannot understand why such people do their Karma. In the Bhagavad Gita , Lord Krishna says to Arjuna that he no longer has any Karma left in all the three worlds, but still r

Marijuana; How it Affects the Human Brain.

Pot is probably the only non-addictive psychotropic drug on the planet. My intention is to elucidate how pot works on the human brain and how people get addicted to it. For this, I shall break it into three stages which the pot user will go through if he smokes up without a break. The first stage I shall call it 'The Euphoria'. This is a stage in which the user is not aware of its potential defects and goes into a trance along with the use of the substance. Just like any new thing would work on your system, pot also works its ways in your system. All your senses gets heightened and you enjoy it to the maximum. This is called the 'high'. Cannabis Sativa gives you a high whereas Cannabis Indica makes you feel 'stoned'. The second stage, I would call it 'The Confused' state. This state is very much obscure for the user while smoking as his brain is confused most of the time, but the mind doesn't want to let go of the substance. The user soon find

Incompleteness

Our worlds derive out of incompleteness. I know that this is a bold statement to make but I can explain it rationally. The complete form is called Moksha or Advaitham or Nirvana. Beyond this stage there is nothing. Hence we have something before this stage. This something is not complete. The worlds are not complete. But the Buddhists say that there was nothing before creation(only in a worldly perspective). They claim to have the existence of a void( Shoonyam )present before creation. But this is a false claim. If void was there then how can one say that there was nothing present? This was the logical reason given by Adi Shankaracharya when a couple of Buddhists came to him for a debate. Nothing can be created from thin air. All of these existed before the inception of the planet named earth, in another name and form. All of this information is given in the Vedas which is a collection of knowledge about  the source of everything. If we attain Nirvana, the soul cannot simply exist

Jack of All Trades

Bursting to be born Scornful clouds be thy one Admist the fears of thine temper, Drop down the tears of anger. Wishful skies bless thee Made for a purpose let them be. I for one and you the same Know it all not you be in shame. A Prince once lived this life He had a girl who was his wife. I cannot tell when he shall plead; The king of nothing let him be freed.

Fruedian Principles on The Harry Potter Series.

In my generation, there wouldn't be a person who hasn't watched The Harry Potter movies and who did not like it. Right from The Philosopher's stone to The Deathly Hallows, everyone would have been a part of it. Rightly so, I too was a part of it and was sad after the last movie got released. J.K.Rowling is as imaginative a person as her characters are and the whole idea of a secret world named Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry is absolutely stunning. This is an attempt to reconstruct her three main characters and give them a psychoanalysis based on Frued's concept of Id, Ego, and Superego. Applying Frued's principle, we can see that Harry becomes the Ego. Hermione becomes the Superego and Ron, the Id. Id is derived by pleasure principle[sic.]. Ron is filled with emotions which he cannot control. Although he wants fame and recognition apart from the fact that he is one of Harry's best friends, he always is under the tag of  being 'Harry Potter'

Schizoaffective Disorder.

My honest opinions about this disorder is that "don't follow your mind, but take decisions with your brain". As I have already mentioned in my previous posts that the mind is mostly what you acquire from your surroundings, it can have good or bad elements in it. But the human body is designed in such a way that the brain has power over the mind. Binary thinking happens in the mind and the decision is made by the brain. So let the mind do its job, but at the same time know that the brain is in your hands! People having this disorder would want to fulfill the needs of their minds. Let them do that but at their on risks and not with others' lives at stake. First they must deconstruct themselves and then build on a new 'personality'. If this persona is not adequate enough, then the society or your near and dear ones will destroy it immediately for you. This is not a mental problem but it is actually a disorder where your mind and the brain are in frequent confl

Perspectival Objectivity.

Everything on this planet springs out of a Perspectival Objectivity. An objective idea that comes from a subjective thought/imagination. The core of our being, the sole existence is one and the same for all. Hence, every idea basically comes out from the same source. The transcendentalists call it the 'over-soul'. If you find the soul and its nature, you can know everything. Knowledge is not open ended. The little nuances, the bits and pieces you pick up from this world(your world that is) are just information. Indeed one can claim to have known everything if he finds out the core of everything. Pure science is limited. Technology knows no ends. The reason is that one is knowledge and the other is information. By 'your world' I mean your idea of the world. We are all living in that 'imaginary homeland'(title by Salman Rushdie). We see the world the way we want to see it. Hence the phrase 'putting yourselves in someone's shoes '. It should be rephr

Uncommon sense

Misunderstanding between people is like a snake which spits venom. Even countries get divided(India and Pakistan) due to misunderstanding between them. The Hindus and Muslims, as a religion, they are fundamentally the opposite. By religion I mean it as an opinion by great prophets and not a sect of people. The Hindu dharma is different and it is omnipresent. During the partition, Muslims in India and Hindus in Pakistan were deeply misunderstood. I object the English East India Company for having been the root cause of these in-fights. They turned the relationship between our Hindu and Muslim brothers into a hostile one. Ideologically we may differ but we are all part of that one Dharma. I would like to see the world as one nation and several countries. Because we have only one race: The Human Race. Prejudices work inside the minds of people. It is a wretched fact that it cannot be erased from the planet unless everyone attains the purity of the heart. I give credit to the man who ma
